Winter storm watch continues for Dawson County
Area expected to start seeing snow Friday morning
Weather pic1
A new blast of winter weather that could bring snow to Dawson County should move into the area Friday.

Areas of light snow will slowly increase across extreme northwest Georgia between 10 a.m. and noon on Friday, and then become widespread across far north Georgia Friday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

The snow will change over to a mix of snow and sleet, with possibly a brief period of freezing rain between 4 and 10 a.m. Saturday before becoming all rain by noon Saturday.

There is still much uncertainty on exact amounts and timing of precipitation types, but there is the potential for around 1-2 inches of snow across far north Georgia, with some isolated higher amounts possible in the higher elevations.

If a brief change over to freezing rain occurs early Saturday morning, amounts could range from a glaze to around 0.15 inches across parts of far north Georgia between 4 a.m. and noon Saturday.
