Two Dawsonville men arrested after standoff with police
Child abuse call escalated when subjects barricaded themselves inside residence

Two Dawsonville men were arrested this afternoon after a standoff with police at a residence near War Hill Park in Dawsonville.

According to Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson, officers responded to a reported child abuse incident at 67 Sams Road around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. 

Forsyth County SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams and Georgia State Patrol were later called to assist after two male subjects barricaded themselves inside the residence.

The incident lasted six hours total and was resolved without injury to any parties, Johnson said. A female juvenile was also inside the home and was recovered unharmed.

Jacob Thomas Woods, 31, and Johnny Lee Woods, 36, were booked into the Dawson County Detention Center around 6 p.m. today and have both been charged with misdemeanor obstruction of an officer

Johnson said he expects there will be additional charges.

The road was blocked for several hours and was reopened to traffic around 5 p.m.
