Dawson Forest Road work

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that traffic at the intersection of Dawson Forest Road and Hwy. 9 in Dawson County will shift on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020.

According to a release, the move will shift traffic 50 feet at the new T-intersection, so that construction can continue on the dual roundabout project at the intersection. This traffic shift will be followed by lane closures over the next three weekends.

Lane closures will occur Friday evenings at 9 p.m. and will reopen to traffic at 6 a.m. on Monday mornings.

The release states that during the weekend of Sept. 12, the south leg of Hwy. 9 will be closed and traffic will be detoured through Ga. 400, Hwy. 369 and Hwy. 9. During the weekend of Sept. 19, the east leg of Dawson Forest Road will be detoured through Ga. 400, Hwy. 53 and Hwy. 9. The weekend of Sept. 26, the north leg of Hwy. 9 will be detoured through Hwy. 9, Hwy. 53 and Ga. 400.

"Please slow down while driving through work zones, buckle up, and Drive Alert," the release said.
