Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson spoke at the Feb. 14 Dawson County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon with an update on the sheriff’s office.
His presentation included a breakdown of the responsibilities of each component to his office as well as a taste of what is to come in the near future. A new K9 unit, the improvements to the Computer-Aided Dispatch system, the installation of the Judgmental Use of Force Simulator and the potential for a firearms range in the county are a few of the items the sheriff’s office has set its sights on.
Johnson also announced that the sheriff’s office will be hosting a town hall meeting at 9 a.m. March 2, something he hopes will continue to be a quarterly meeting where citizens can ask questions and learn more about crime rates in the county.
The town hall meeting will discuss current crime trends affecting Dawson County as well as security and prevention tips, upcoming community events and current office operations.
Attendees will have the ability to meet staff and ask questions.
The meeting will be held at the Law Enforcement Center, 19 Tucker Ave. in Dawsonville.
