The Dawson County Produce Market will officially open at 7:30 a.m. July 6.

The market will continue through the summer, each Wednesday and Saturday, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and going until the last sellers leave.

Sellers have the option to begin prior to the start time in order to beat the heat.

There is no cost to sell. It is a great way for local residents to buy and sell produce.

The market is located in the parking lot of the Dawson County Agricultural Service Center in Dawsonville at 298 Academy Avenue.

Only locally home grown fruits and vegetables are sold.

There are no canned goods allowed.

To be a seller, you must be a resident of Dawson County or a county adjacent to Dawson. If you are interested in selling, contact the Extension Office at (706) 265-2442.

The office also hosts a program to certify weight scales.

This year the scales will be certified by personnel from the Georgia Department of Agriculture from 10 to 11 a.m. June 15 at the Dawson Extension Office.

Scale certification is free and required for public use of the scale.
