Casino night benefits shelter

Tickets are still available for the Dawson County Humane Society's second annual Lucky Dog Casino night.

Featuring Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Texas Hold 'Em Poker, the event will be held at the Dawsonville Municipal Complex from 7-10 p.m. Saturday.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the animal shelter, which currently houses about 200 homeless animals.

"This event benefits the numerous animals at the shelter who were left homeless and abandoned and deserve a good, loving forever home," said Carolyn Bowen, society president. "In these tough economic times, the animals suffer too and this is evident by the influx of dogs and cats at the shelter."

The cost is $50 per person and includes all games, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction. The ticket price also includes play money, with additional chips available for purchase.

Prizes include a $500 Best Buy gift certificate, a night at Harrah's Cherokee Casino, jewelry, Braves and UGA tickets and much more.

A cash bar will also be available.

Tickets are available at www.dawsoncountyhumanesociety.org or by calling (706) 265-9111 or (706) 265-6360.
