Experience what 1.8 million Georgians living below the poverty line face every week with a poverty simulation hosted by the University of Georgia Family and Consumer Science next week at Veterans Memorial Park.

The simulation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 and will have each participant assume the role of a family member- some newly unemployed, some homeless, others receiving temporary assistance or disability and some with no form of transportation.

The task of the families is to provide for basic necessities and shelter during the course of four 15-minute “weeks.”

The event is sponsored by Dawson County Family Connection.

Call (706) 25-1981 to participate in this eye-opening simulation.
