Put on your helmet, boots and best poker face Saturday to take part in the first annual KARE for Kids Motorcycle Poker Run.

For an entry fee of $25 per bike and $10 per passenger, event participants will have a chance to win prizes, awards, money and walk away with the best hand of the day.

“We are excited about this event and think it will be something that people in the community will enjoy,” said Calvin Byrd, president of KARE for Kids. “Fall is a great time to get out and ride motorcycles. Whether you bring out the cruiser, racer or vintage bike, this will be an afternoon of fun and friendship.”

All proceeds will benefit KARE for Kids.

Registration will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Moto 400 on Hwy. 400 in Dawsonville, with all riders departing by 10:15 a.m.

Biscuits and coffee supplied by the Dawsonville Pool Room will be available for purchase during registration.

After leaving Moto 400, participants will make three stops before ending up at Zack’s Wings in downtown Dawsonville.

Registration fees also include admission to the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, and participants will also receive a special lunch deal from Zack’s Wings after the ride.

KARE for Kids is a non-profit organization that provides hundreds of local children with clothing, medication, eyeglasses and school supplies each year.

The volunteer group puts together Dawsonville’s largest event of the year, the Mountain Moonshine Festival to raise money for its holiday initiative. Each year the organization takes on the task of identifying families in need in Dawson County and making sure the families are equipped with what they need to have an enjoyable Christmas holiday.
