A local man was flown to an Atlanta hospital Monday afternoon after he suffered serious injuries in a farming equipment accident.
According to Dawson County Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford, emergency personnel were summoned about noon to a site off Old Henry Grady Road.
"We got a call about an injury in a corn-picking incident," Swafford said. "He was working on machinery in operation when part of his hand was amputated."
According to Swafford, emergency workers stabilized the man, who had lost "some of his [fingers]," before taking him to Fire Station 1. He was then flown to Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the man's name had not been released and his condition could not be determined.
