Local woman critically burned in Ridge Road residential fire

A local woman has been critically injured following a residential fire near Ridge Road in Dawson County on Friday, Sept. 25. 

Units from five Dawson County fire stations responded to reports that a mobile home was on fire at about 12:05 p.m. on Friday, according to a press release by Dawson County Emergency Services. 

"First units arrived and found a residential structure 80% engulfed with heavy fire," the release said. "Personnel made an aggressive attack on the fire and were able to bring it under control." 

A female resident of the home, 53, was severely burned in the fire, with second and third-degree burns on over 80% of her body. Dawson County Emergency Services transported her to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. No other injuries were reported. 

Officials are investigating the fire and the cause has not yet been determined.
