In its inaugural venture into adult musical theater, the Dawson County Arts Council's recent summer hit "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" received four nominations in the 2012 Broadway World Atlanta awards for non-professional musicals.

The nominations include: Russ Ivey, best actor; Heatherly Wanamaker Nelson, best actress; Jamie Fambrough, best director; and best musical.

"We are incredibly honored to have received these nominations ... and we extend our congratulations to our actors and artistic staff who were recognized for their work on this spectacular production," the council said in a statement.

The overall winners are determined by public vote.

Voting, which continues through Dec. 31, is open at www.atlanta.broadwayworld.com.

The council asks the community to show its support for the arts in Dawson County by voting for the cast and crew.

"As always, we are eternally grateful to everyone who continues to support us, from the actors and crew working behind the scenes to the loyal patrons who continue to fill our seats. We could not do what we have been able to do without your continuing love and support, and we cannot wait for you to see what we have in store for 2013," the council said.
