Cards will be tossed, dice will be rolled and wagers will be made on Saturday at the Dawson County Humane Society's Lucky Dog Casino Night.

The third annual event benefits the animal shelter, which currently houses about 200 homeless cats and dogs.

Featuring blackjack, roulette, craps and Texas hold 'em poker, the event will be held from 6-10 p.m. at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Museum.

"All proceeds raised at this event support efforts to properly care for the animals who come to our shelter," said Carolyn Bowen, society president.

"We have been working hard to be able to call our shelter a ‘no kill' shelter and we have almost reached that goal."

The cost is $50 per person and includes all games, hors d'oeuvres, desserts and play money, with additional chips available for purchase.

The event will also give away door prizes, announce awardees and host a silent auction. The grand prize awarded to a special attendee will be a $500 gift card.

Last year the door prizes included a night at Harrah's Cherokee Casino, jewelry, Braves and UGA tickets.

A cash bar will also be available.

Businesses can sponsor the fundraiser as a high roller for $400, a jackpot for $200 or a royal flush for $100.

Current high rollers are the Foothills Veterinary Clinic, Russ and Pat Anderson and Tim and Isabelle Smock.
