Firefighters from Dawson and Forsyth counties battled a house fire south of Dawsonville that displaced a family Monday morning.

There was no one in the home when the fire broke out about 11:30 a.m. on Gomez Lane, a private, gravel drive off Jenkins Road and Hwy. 9 South.

"The house was 100 percent involved when we got there," said Dawson County Fire Marshal and Deputy Chief Tim Satterfield.

"We had units on the scene until about 4:30 yesterday afternoon and then we went back last night to check it out."

He said it was too early in the investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

Satterfield was not sure if the homeowners were insured.
