Hwy. 9 and Dawson Forest Road detour schedule updated by GDOT
Detours now begin on Friday, Sept. 18
SR 9 Roadwork

The Georgia Department of Transportation has updated a series of weekend closures that will affect motorists traveling on Hwy. 9 and Dawson Forest Road in Dawson County, where a new double roundabout is under construction.

Starting Friday, Sept. 18, the southbound lane of Hwy. 9 at the intersection of Hwy. 9 and Dawson Forest Road will be temporarily closed for construction, according to a GDOT press release.

The weekend closure will occur from 9 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, and will detour southbound traffic via Ga. 400, Hwy. 269 and Hwy. 9.

The following weekend, on Friday, Sept. 25, the eastbound lane of Dawson Forest Road will be closed and traffic will be diverted through Ga. 400, Hwy. 53 and Hwy. 9. The closure schedule will remain the same, beginning on Friday night and reopening on Monday morning.

These closure dates will replace the closures that were announced by GDOT in late August.

"Please slow down while driving through work zones, buckle up, and Drive Alert," the release concluded.
