Dec. 1 is deadline for K.A.R.E. for Kids Christmas assistance

K.A.R.E.  for Kids began accepting applications for assistance for the 2018 Christmas season on Nov. 3 and will continue with several dates through Dec. 1.

Applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 17 and Dec. 1 and 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 19 and Nov. 26 at the K.A.R.E. for Kids office at 66 Hwy. 53 West, Dawsonville.

Applications will no longer be accepted after Dec. 1.

In order to qualify for assistance, applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Must live full time in Dawson County along with the child or children you are applying for assistance for and the child or children must live with you; if your child or children are school aged, they must attend Dawson County Schools; your child or children must be school age or younger; you must not receive assistance from any other agency for this Christmas season.

Applicants must bring copies of each of the following in order for applications to be accepted: A Georgia driver’s license or valid state I.D.;  proof of residency (utility bill, lease agreement, property tax statement, tax return); school report card (if child or children are of school age) or birth certificate (if child or children are not of school age); documentation from day care or preschool in the county; income verification for the last two months for all persons employed in the household; and court documents if you are the guardian of the child or children.

Applicants will need to know the child or children’s exact clothing and shoe sizes, specific clothing needs and three specific items that the child or children would like for Christmas (one gift under $50 and two gifts under $20).
