Reporter Allie Dean has been named editor of the Dawson County News.
The announcement was made by Stephanie Woody, publisher of the paper.
“Allie has been an instrumental part of the team at Dawson County News and will do great things in her new role as editor,” Woody said.
Dean, a Dawson County native, has been with the paper since 2016.
She is a 2012 graduate of Dawson County High School and a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she majored in public affairs journalism.
“I’m excited to take such a vital role in the production of my hometown newspaper,” Dean said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to learn and grow and serve the community I know and love.”
In her new role, Dean will have oversight of all content of the Dawson County News, its various special sections, social media and the dawsonnews.com website.
“Allie has proven herself to be a leader and I have no doubt she will continue to provide our community and readers with the quality and service they expect,” Woody said.
