DCN seeking nominations for ‘Outstanding Citizens’

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond in their duties to their church, community, school or civic organization?

If so, the Dawson County News would like to hear about these ‘Outstanding Citizens' of Dawson County.

Nominations are being accepted for the Feb. 28 edition of the paper that will include a special section to pay tribute to Dawson County's Outstanding Citizens of 2018.

“Everyone knows someone who goes above and beyond in the community and never asks for recognition or praise,” said Allie Dean, Dawson County News editor. “Those are the people we are looking for, because we believe they deserve to be honored for the work they do that often gets overlooked.”

Last year's ‘Outstanding Citizens' included two teens who volunteer with several service organizations, a retired principal who devotes her time to promoting literacy in the county and a local man who continuously touches the lives of children in the county as a teacher, coach and mentor, among others.

"We hope the community can help us find some of these special residents and allow us to spotlight what makes them outstanding," Dean said.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 28.

Nominations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1600, Dawsonville, Ga. 30534, e-mailed to adean@dawsonnews.com or faxed to (706) 265-3276.

Please include your name and contact information along with the person you are nominating.
