Dawson County School Superintendent Keith Porter announced early this morning that schools are closed today for students and staff.
All extra-curricular activities planned for this afternoon are also cancelled.
According to the National Weather Service, 31 degrees is today's high with an 80 percent chance of precipitation and a total daytime snow accumulation of less than an inch is possible.
An additional half inch of snow could accumulate after dark, mainly before 1 a.m.
The snow should be gone by Wednesday, with a high of 37 degrees in the forecast, but there is a 20 percent chance of snow, mainly before 8 a.m.
