It was 60 years today that Francis "Tim" Webb vowed to spend the rest of his life with his sweetheart.

"We had known each other, and we used to tease when she came into the drug store about what a good looking girl she was," he said. "I had to call her two or three times to get a first date."

A year later in 1951, Webb married Margaret Miller in Spartanburg, S.C.

"When we married, we had no money in hard times, just like everybody is going through now," Margaret Webb said. "But we made it."

The couple, who moved to Dawson County in 1970, has three daughters who are also married with children.

"Together [our family has] a combined 156 years of wedded bliss without any divorces, no drugs, no jail," Tim Webb said. "I just like to share that. I don't think many families can make that claim."

While the lovebirds have much to celebrate, they admit they've had their share of tough times.

Tim Webb is currently being treated for cancer, and the couple is spending a great deal of time at hospitals and traveling between doctor visits.

"We've just been hoping we'd make it to our 60th anniversary," Margaret Webb said.
