Several hundred dinner guests are expected tonight at the fourth annual community Thanksgiving feast at the Lakeview Center.

Organized by the local Alliance of Churches, the feast of turkey and all the trimmings, including a variety of desserts, will be served by volunteers from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at the center, located at 2057 Dawson Forest Road.

The dinner, designed for those who find themselves alone or can't afford to travel to be with family for the holiday, is free. Everyone is invited.

"We're planning for about 400 people this year," said organizer Jim Bohl.

The food will be prepared by volunteers from the group's respective churches.

"Each church has been assigned to bring one item for the dinner," Bohl said.

For the second year, the Alliance of Churches has partnered with the Rotary Club of Dawson County to help sponsor the event.

Bohl said she would like to thank Rotary Club President Vernon Smith, who has donated the facility and his staff for the event.

The Alliance of Churches, which formed in Dawson County about five years ago, meets monthly to discuss concerns and opportunities to serve the community.
