A car crashed into an empty storefront near Food Lion and Dollar Tree in the Dawsonville Towne Center shopping complex Wednesday afternoon around 1:00 p.m. The driver of the white Volkswagen Jetta was uninjured. Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation, though Dawson County Sheriff deputies and Dawson County Emergency Services were also on scene to give aid.

According to a press release issued by Georgia State Patrol, the driver, 71-year-old Rita Lynett Gayton, from Dawsonville, was attempting to park in front of Suite 130 in the shopping center.  Instead of stopping in the parking space, the Jetta continued forward, jumped the curb, and drove through the front glass wall of Suite 130.  The Jetta then drove partially through the interior wall between Suite 130 and Suite 140.
