BOC sets schedule, approves apartments
FB DCN Government County

The Dawson County Board of Commissioners voted Thursday night to approve its new meeting schedule. The updated schedule was proposed to conform to the newly adapted biweekly meeting structure.

Instead of weekly meetings alternating between work sessions and voting sessions, the board will meet every other Thursday, with a work session at 4:00 pm followed by a voting session at 6:00 pm. The first meeting to fall under this new structure will be held May 2.

The Board of Commissioners also voted 3-2 to approve the rezoning of a property located between the CVS and the Dawson 10 Cinemas near the intersection of Hwy. 53 and GA-400. The property will be used for a new 80-unit apartment complex.

The commissioners also approved the addition of an Alcohol Licensing Administrator, but agreed to reduce the pay bracket for the position, which had been a point of contention.
