Officials with Georgia State Patrol have released information about the type of car they believe was involved in the hit and run death of a pedestrian earlier this week on Dawson Forest Road.

"Georgia State Patrol and the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is looking for a 2009 or 2010 Mercury Mariner or Ford Escape that has right side damage," said State Patrol Spokeswoman Robin Stone on Thursday. "Anyone with information regarding this vehicle is asked to contact Georgia State Patrol Post 37 Cumming at (77) 205-5400."

According to Stone, the pedestrian who was killed the night of Oct. 9, Bobby Eugene Wells, 80, of Dawsonville, was attempting to walk south across Dawson Forest Road from Chestatee Worship Center to Pinewood Trail when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Dawson Forest.

The incident occurred at 7:37 p.m.

Stone said the vehicle struck Wells with the front passenger side area and left the scene.

Wells was deceased at the scene.
