This was inside the restaurant — or if you were lucky enough to have your sweetheart parked in your ’40 Chevy down in the Snellville section —and have Flossie Mae giving his rendition of the Varsity’s menu: “We have naked dogs, chili dogs, PCs, big orange drinks, on and on.”

We grew up in Atlanta when the Varsity was at its peak. My mother moved to California in 1992 and we got a phone call one day and said one of the things she missed the most about Atlanta was the Varsity dogs.

I related this to Mrs. Gordy and she Fedexed chili dogs, fried pies, along with a Varsity hat and napkins to Mom in Sacramento.

From one who grew up with the Varsity, we welcome the Varsity to Dawsonville.
