Family hurt by accusations

My name is Judy Cox, wife of "good ole boy" Joe Lane Cox.

It was obvious [in recent reports] that Gary Pichon (county commissioner) and Chris Gaines (city councilman) were referring to the administration of former Mayor of the City of Dawsonville Joe Lane Cox.

Yes, Joe Lane was a good ole boy, he loved God, his family and friends, and he loved Dawson County and the City of Dawsonville. Please go back and check the accomplishments of Joe Lane against what Gary Pichon and Chris Gaines have accomplished.

Joe Lane did everything he did for the betterment of the county and city. It was never for personal gain or money, believe me, I am paying a large house payment at this time in my life.

I don't even remember if Joe Lane voted on the two annexations commonly discussed (Gold Creek and Atlanta Motorsports Park), as the mayor only votes if there is a tie in the city council's vote; but I do know that he supported the decision.

Joe Lane's heart went out to the wonderful people in Gold Creek, he saw how a lot of them had put their life savings in a home in Gold Creek and everything fell apart in what they thought they were investing in and if these people wanted to be a part of the city, he welcomed them.

His support of the Atlanta Motorsports Park was an attempt to get more people to come through the city, and hopefully stop and shop with local merchants, and also create jobs for local people.

I love Dawson County and what it stands for - we love God, family, friends and neighbors. My suggestions to people that don't believe what we do is that there are other places to live.

Please pray for me and my family, for we have been hurt by these remarks about a man that wasn't here to defend himself.
