Racing loses a legend

Racing legend Charlie Mincey has died. "You won't find a race fan nowhere in Georgia that doesn't know Charlie Mincey, cause he raced over such a span of time," said President of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Gordon Pirkle. Mincey had recently been named grand marshal of the upcoming 49th annual Mountain Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville in October.

Dawson County’s bass fishing team competed Saturday at West Point Lake in the first Bass Nation tournament of the year. Bryson Dockery and Eli Massey took home the trophy for the junior division, while Carter Cunningham and Landon Glander also finished in the top 10.
