Rock Creek Park was the sight of this summer’s British Soccer Camp. More than 25 future players took part in the event hosted by the Dawson County Park and Recreation Department.

British Soccer Camps is a branch of Challenger Sports, which began operation in 1985. The company employs players from all over Great Britain to teach campers the proper fundamentals of soccer.

The camp was open for players ages 7-14 in two different sessions Monday through Friday. The first session lasted from 9 a.m. to noon and the second training period was held from 6 -9 p.m.

Each day the campers were introduced to individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily World Cup Tournament.

The coaching staff taught lessons in self-discipline, good sportsmanship and respect for others and for the game.
