Swimmers pick up ribbons at meet

The Dawsonville Racer swim team picked up several first place ribbons at a recent tri-meet held July 5 at Coosawattee River Resort in Ellijay. Along with Dawsonville was the Coosawattee swim team and the Pickens County Sea Dragons.

  

“I was really pleased with our effort and spirit this afternoon,” said Head Coach Stephanie Morgan. “We continue to improve tremendously.”

  

Taking home a first place ribbon were:

  

5-year old: Lanier Coker - 25-m free;

  

7-year old: Sarah O’Saben - 50-m free and 25-m breast;

  

8-year olds: Kaylee Barrett - 25-m free; 100-m IM; 25-m back, Maya Moers - 25-m free and 25-m back, Hannah Gerrells - 25-m free; 25-m breast, Hayden Starr - 25-m breast, Logan Starr - 25-m back;

  

10-year olds: Lindsay O’Saben - 25-m free; 25-m breast; 25-m fly, Keylan Steffins - 25-m free, Ben Moers - 25-m back; 25-m fly, Aidan Davis - 25-m back;

  

11-year olds: Erin Gallamore - 50-m back;

  

12-year olds: Tyler Hilchie - 100-m free and 100-m IM, Tyler Barrett - 50-m breast; 50-m fly and 100-m IM;

  

14-year olds: Eve Perkins - 100-m free, Courtney Hilchie - 50-m breast.

  

Picking up second place ribbons were: Logan Starr, Adrienne Hilchie, Aidan Davis, Maya Moers, Anna Spillane, Hannah Moulder, Meghan Gallamore, Keylan Steffins, Courtney Hilchie, Megan Spillane, Tyler Hilchie and Eve Perkins.

Also participating and placing were: Grace Dorminy, Madison Coker, Lacey Chamberlain, Ben Moers, Erin Gallamore and Zachery Gerrells.

  

The Racers will compete at 5 p.m. July 15 in Ellijay with a meet against Gilmer County. The Racers will host a meet beginning at 8:30 a.m. July 17 at Veterans Memorial Park in Dawsonville.
