Reopening plans announced by Dawson County Parks and Recreation Department

The Dawson County Parks and Recreation Department has announced a three-phase plan to reopen local parks, camps and services throughout the month of May and early June. 

According to a recent press release, starting on May 14, 2020, Rock Creek Recreation Center, War Hill Campground and the War Hill Beach and Picnic area will be opened to the public. 

The release states that Rock Creek will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. No practices or organized activities will be held at Rock Creek yet, and public equipment will not be available. Only limited campsites at War Hill Campground will be available for the time being. 

Next, starting May 23, Recreation Centers at Rock Creek Park and Veterans Memorial Park will resume regular hours, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, county playgrounds will reopen for public use and War Hill Park will reopen at full capacity. 

Lastly, on June 8 county athletic and park facilities, programming, camps and rental facilities will fully reopen with social distancing and state guidelines on safety. This includes athletic programming, summer camps, fitness and instructional programming, indoor and outdoor rental facilities, and public use of the Dawson County Pool and Splash Pad.
