Isabelle Kinsey captured a second place finish at the park and recreation state swimming championship in Tifton last weekend.
Kinsey was runner-up in the 25-yard backstroke for the Dawsonville Racers and head coach Stephanie Morgan.
Morgan's team went to the state meet with a possibility of earning a maximum of eight medals. The Racers exceeded expectations and came home with six ribbons.
On the boys' side, in the 10 and under division, Aidan Kudlas picked up a third place ribbon in the 100-intermediate and an eighth place in the 25-yard breaststroke for the Racers.
In the 15-18 girls division, Brooke Dare touched the wall for fifth place in the 50-yard backstroke.
Lauren Dare, 15-18 girls, picked up two seventh place medals in the 50-yard backstroke and butterfly.
The previous weekend, the Racers swam at the North Georgia Swim League Championships.
On July 12, the event was held in Gainesville at the Francis Meadows Aquatic Center before moving to the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center in Clarkesville on Saturday.
Competing in the championships were 11 teams, including the Stingrays Swim Team, Dacula Dolphins, Splash Aquatic Club, Commerce Tiger Sharks, Jefferson Sea Dragons, Cumming Waves, Brad Atkins YMCA, Habersham Rapids, Bell YMCA-Hartwell and Lanier Aquatics.
Once again, Isabelle Kinsey stood out with several fine performances.
The eight year old captured the championship in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 21.20. Kinsey also picked up a second place finish in the 25-yard breaststroke, just barely getting edged out by Lauren Green from Jefferson by .11 of a second.
Isabelle finished in third in the 100-intermediate and fourth in the 25-yard butterfly.
The Kinsey family continued to excel as Elliot, in the six and under age group, came in third place in the 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke.
Racer Aidan Kudlas, 10 and under boys, also had a great meet. Kudlas touched the wall with a third place finish in the 25-yard breaststroke. Aidan also competed in the 25-yard free, 100-yard intermediate and 25-yard backstroke.
In the 12 and under boys division, Matthew Wood, finished in third place in the 50-yard backstroke. Wood also swam in the 100-yard free, 50-yard free, and 100-yard IM.
Also swimming for Dawsonville were: 6 and under girls-Carsyn Kudlas; 8 and under girls-Brenna Kudlas; 10 and under girls-Sarah Beth Osaben, Megan Dixon; 10 and under boys-Tyler Howell; 12 and under boys-Logan Starr, Hayden Starr; 12 and under girls-Hannah Moulder, Martha Thompson, Kaylee Barrett; 14 and under girls-Lindsay Osaben; 18 and under girls-Taylor Barrett.
