The Dawsonville Racers competed in the Splash North Georgia Swim Meet held at the Ruby Fulbright Center in Clarksville on Saturday.

Several Dawsonville swimmers placed in the event that was hosted by the Habersham Rapids Swim Team.

Isabelle Kinsey, 6 and under, placed third in the 25-yard freestyle. She earned 16 points for her team. Kinsey also finished in sixth place in the 25-yard backstroke for an additional 13 points for the Racers.

In the 8-and-under freestyle, Sarah Beth O'Saben finished in fifth place, which was good for 14 team points.

O'Saben also crossed the finish line in fifth place in the 25-yard breast stroke for another 14 points. She also was very competitive in the 25-yard backstroke with a seventh place finish and 13 points.

Maycie Calhoun, in the 8 and under division, picked up nine points with a ninth place finish in the breast stroke. Calhoun also came in 25th place in the free style.

The girls did very well in several events. Ella Siuta, 34th, in the 8-U freestyle, Lauryn Antoun, 22nd, Hannah Moulder, 27th, Martha Corinn Thompson, 29th, Anna Spillane, 34th, and Amanda Grey, 37th, in the 10-U freestyle.

In the breaststroke, Amanda Grey, 20th, Hannah Moulder, 21st, and Martha Corinn Thompson, 23rd, raced well in the 10-U division.

Ella Siuta crossed the finish line with a hard fought 30th place in the 8-U backstroke.

The 10-U backstroke saw several Dawson swimmers finish the grueling race: Hannah Moulder, 20th, Lauryn Antoun, 23rd, Amanda Grey, 31st, Martha Corinn Thompson, 35th and Anna Spillane, 37th.

Lauryn Antoun also placed 23rd in the butterfly.

The girls' team finished in fifth place out of nine teams at the event.

The Racers finished with 78 points. Taking first were the Jefferson Sea Dragons with 1,539.2 points.

Other teams at the event were: Habersham, North Georgia Rapids, Brad Akins YMCA Barracudas, Commerce Tiger Sharks, the Hurricanes, Bell YMCA Hartwell Hydros and Sterling on the Lake.

On the boys' side the local team finished in a disappointing ninth place. The team tallied only nine total team points.

Once again the Jefferson Sea Dragons captured first place with 1,065 total points.

Asher Wood picked up five points with a 12th place finish in the 8-U freestyle.

Racer Grant Trosterud earned two points with a 15th place finish in the breaststroke. Trosterud also placed 24th in the freestyle and backstroke.

Ten and under Racer Jackson Toro crossed the finish line 15th in the butterfly. He earned two points for his team.

Toro also picked up an 18th place finish in the backstroke and 19th place in the freestyle.

The Racers will participate in an invitational meet Saturday in Dacula.
