In a press release last week by the Dawson County Parks and Recreation Department, it has entered an agreement with Dawson County United Soccer Club to manage the local soccer program.
The statement said, “Dawson County Parks and Recreation is proud to announce a new partnership with Dawson County United Soccer Club. Beginning Fall 2008 recreational soccer in Dawson County will have a new face.”
Co-founder Anton Sieber said, “Dawson County United is a soccer club created and run by two dads who absolutely love soccer! We have spent almost our entire lives playing and coaching the world’s most popular sport, and we have a passion for passing along our knowledge to kids. Combined we have over 30 years experience in this pursuit, and we also have a history of running a successful soccer program.”
Dawson County United is a club of which Dawson County residents will be proud to be a part, and will draw the core of strength from community involvement. In addition to providing a high level of education and training for the kids, the club will also provide a high level of education and training for the parent volunteers.”
“We understand that our volunteer coaches are the heart and soul of our club, and their enjoyment of the game is paramount to the kids enjoying the game too,” said Sieber.
“This formula has proven to be successful, as the knowledge and understanding filters down from the coaches to the players and parents, creating a positive experience for everyone,” Sieber added.
Dawson County United, a Georgia State Soccer Association affiliated club, adhering to the rules and bylaws established by this state organization. These rules have been developed over years of testing and have proven beneficial to player development and enjoyment of the game. Soccer is a sport to be enjoyed by everyone, and everyone is invited to come out and be part of this exciting new program.
Dawson County Recreation Director Lisa Henson said, “It is a great day when parents and volunteers are engaged in the program from start to finish.
Ownership and passion are critical to any programs growth and success and Dawson County United Soccer is a perfect example of both. We look forward to our supporting role in this partnership. It’s truly a win-win for all concerned when we can put the future of our fastest growing program in the hands of parents and volunteers who are willing to dedicate themselves to this single purpose.”
“Our role will become one of support,” said Dawson County Parks and Recreation Athletic Director Kristi Creegan. “We will provide the facilities and equipment, prepare the playing surface, assist with staff support and help the parent-run organization during the transition period.”
