Mitchell Putnam led Dawson County Middle School to a 37-25 win over Gilmer County last Monday, Nov. 17.

Putnam pumped in 14 points for the win for Coach Jonathon Tinsley’s eighth grade team.

The Tiger defense was outstanding in the win over the Bobcats.

“We played really well. On the defensive side of the ball we had a really good game. The players seem to understand their roles and are playing very aggressive defense. We rebounded really well. Bench players came in and did a good job coming in off the bench,” said Tinsley.

Will Anglin also had a tremendous game offensively for the Tigers. Anglin poured in 10 points in the 12-point victory.

“On the offensive side of the ball we came out early playing aggressive, but became sluggish with the ball and didn’t put Gilmer away when we had a chance. So it was a game late, but they made their run late in the game and we handled the pressure well and slowed the ball down and did a good job of controlling the clock,” remarked Tinsley.
