The Riverview Middle School wrestling team competed in a tri-match with Dawson County and White County middle schools last Tuesday.

Despite losing the match, there were several individual winners for the Eagles. Winning by pin were: C.J. Franklin, Chaz Slaton, Craig Butler and Ryan Jones. Gavin Brown won his match by decision.

“Gavin Brown stepped it up because I had to bump him up a weight class and he wrestled a great match and came out on top,” Riverview Middle School Head Wrestling Coach Benjy Edwards said.

“We wrestled well, but had a lot of wrestlers out,” Edwards added.

Members of this year’s team include: Brandy Torres, Brendan Capps, Slaton, Christian Seay, Harrison Adams, Hollie Hornsby, Josh Sage, Riley Bryant, Franklin, Franklin Burt, Gavin Brown, Lane Cantrell, Aaron Loftin, Arianna Delira, Austin Anastatio, Conner Delay, Corey McNeal, Butler, Drew Bishop, Katelyn Baker, Kyle Bertelone, Mason Bearden, Matthew Reeves, Ryan Jones, Tyler Gastley and Zach Reeves.

The team will wrestle this Saturday in the King of the Mountain Invitational held at Towns County High School. Wrestling will begin at 9 a.m.
