Dawson County High School Head Football Coach Jeff Lee conducted a speed and agility camp last week at Pickens County High School in Jasper.

The camp was open to any girl at Pickens or Dawson County high schools. More than 45 girls attended the camp, making it a huge success.

The camp was designed to teach each girl the proper way to stretch, jump and lift weights, by using several different techniques and methods.

Each girl was encouraged to participate in each drill and give it their best.

Lee demonstrated the proper method of using each piece of equipment in a safe manner.

“We tried to encourage girls from both schools to take advantage of the chance to use these training methods to get better. I was really impressed with the work ethic of the girls here. They really put forth a great effort,” said Lee.

Participants met each morning at 7:30 a.m. for the two-hour workout.

The day began with several stretching exercises and progressed gradually to the different speed stations.

At the end of each workout the athletes grouped together to get a cool-down stretch.

Lee lectured the campers on a proper eating and drinking regimen.

He encouraged each camper to take care of their bodies by eating good foods and getting plenty of rest.

“Hopefully, this week helped these athletes to realize what it takes to get better,” remarked Lee. “I hope they use what they learned this week when they begin their games this summer and next year.”
