Lady Tigers defeated in state playoff opening

The Dawson County Lady Tigers went on the road Friday, Feb. 14, 2020 to face off against Cedar Grove High School in the first round of state playoffs.

According to Head Coach Steve Sweat, the matchup looked good for the game’s first three quarters as the Lady Tigers countered the Lady Saints shot for shot, going into the last quarter leading with a score of 35-27.

Foul trouble and turnovers by the Lady Tigers helped Cedar Grove take their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter, ending the game with a final score of 45-39.

During the game senior Marlie Townley led the scoring with 13 points, junior Maddie Anglin scored nine points, senior Sophia D'Oliveira and freshman Kirklyn Porter scored six points each, Emma Walls scored three points and Bella Henson had two.

The Lady Tigers finished the season with an overall record of 14-14.
