Coach Arron Haynes has announced team captains for the 2009-2010 wrestling season.

Haynes’ and his team will be represented by junior David Woods and seniors Kenny Housel and Zach Paz.

The Tigers are coming off a very competitive tri-match with AAA schools, Gilmer County and Southeast Whitfield. The match was held on Friday, Nov. 20 at Gilmer County High School.

Dawson County lost both matches against some very good competition.

Against Southeast Whitfield the Tigers dropped a 46-36 decision.

“There were many lead changes. It was a great match down to the very end,” said Haynes.

Haynes and his team were dominated in the Gilmer match and lost 68-12.

“They may be the best team I have seen at Gilmer. They have won three championships in the last six years. They are very good,” said Haynes.

“Overall we had a great night of wrestling. Gilmer was just plain better than us right now. I thought the JV wrestled great. All the wrestlers worked hard on the mat and had no quit in them,” he added.

The team will wrestle at the King of the Mountain Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Towns County. Friday’s matches will begin at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the tournament will start at 9 a.m.

Haynes and his team will be back at home on Tuesday, Dec. 8 for a tri-match with North Forsyth and Riverside Military Academy. Matches will begin at 5 p.m.
