Madalyn Walters continued her winning ways with a first place finish at the Clash of Titans cross country meet at Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell on Saturday.

Walters covered the course in a time of 20:24.15 to easily defeat second place finisher Bailey Willett of Blessed Trinity, 20:43.46, and third place runner Olivia Pigg of North Oconee, 20:58.72.

The event was the second weekend in a row that Walters has captured a title. The talented senior won at East Jackson High School after easily outdistancing her fellow runners, Sept. 17.

The 5K course at Blessed Trinity was run primarily through woods. The course was very challenging with many gradual inclines and declines, according to coaches.

The Lady Tigers, as a team, finished sixth overall out of 10 teams. Blessed Trinity took the team title, followed by Pope High School. Dawson rival North Oconee finished in fourth place.

Also running well for the Lady Tigers were: Rachel Glockner (23:27.03), Morgan Collett (24:23.75), Savanna Estes (24:48.72), Morgan Williams (24:48.97), Christine Schmid (27:19.96), Sara Bywaletz (27:50.81), Summer Lewis and Miranda Abe.

The Lady Tigers are currently ranked No. 4 in class AA.

On the boys' side, Tyler Thurmond led the Tigers with a 17th place finish and a time of 18:52.55 out of 91 runners.

As a team the Tigers captured fifth place.

Pope won top honors, followed by second-place finisher Blessed Trinity.

Winning the individual title was Justin Howell of Pope High School with a time of 17:35.21.

Runner-up in the very close race was Will Murray of Blessed Trinity with a time of 17:35.49.

Tigers Chris Bywaletz ran well over the tough course. Bywaletz finished with a time of 19:18.17 and finished in 27th place.

Josh Styles (19:27.49), John Erickson (19:27.93), Preston Adams (19:30.88), Jake Hafermalz (19:45.02), Sam Wentworth (20:02.24), Nathan Shelp and Ross Walters also ran hard for the Tigers.

The Tigers are currently ranked No. 7 in the latest coach's poll in class AA.

Both teams will compete this Saturday in the Wesleyan Invitational in Norcross.
