The Dawson County High School varsity baseball team dropped two games last week.

The Tigers lost to Pickens County, 5-4 and Elbert County, 16-7.

The Pickens County game was a heartbreaker.

The Dragons hit a two-out, two-run homer for the win.

Coach Thad Burgess' team is currently 2-5 on the season.

"We have to just ready for a tenacious region schedule to start," Burgess said. "We got in a deep hole last year to start region and could never get out of it."

Dawson County opened Region 7-AAA action March 9 with a home game against Banks County.

Scores were not available as of press time.

The Tigers will play East Hall on Friday in Dawsonville before traveling to Franklin County on March 16. Both games are Region 7-AAA contests.

"So far this season we have struggled early. We still have many questions to be answered," Burgess said.
