Game #8: Dawson County vs. Union County, away, Oct. 24

Union County High School Head Football Coach Brian Allison took over the helm of a ship that has been sinking the last four years.

Union County posted a 1-9 record last year, with its only victory coming over Rabun County.

Union County will run an offense similar to Dawson's spread offense.

The Panthers returned a solid corps of receivers led by Jarred Arrant (6-0, 200) Clay McConnell (6-2, 175), Nathaniel Beavers (5-9, 160) and Blake Gowder (6-2, 175).

If quarterback Kolt Owenby (5-11, 175) can get some protection from his offensive lineman, the Union County offense could be dangerous.

Defensively, Allison has some concerns.

The defensive line is small and that presents problems for his linebackers, led by David Harris (5-11, 175).

Union County is much improved, but is still a long way from being a region contender.

Prediction: The Tigers haven't lost to Union since 2002 and it will not happen this year. Dawson will travel to Blairsville and de-claw the Panthers in a big way. The only concern for Dawson County Head Football Coach Jeff Lee is that his team is not looking ahead to the big showdown with East Jackson next week.

The Panthers will be getting ready for basketball season at this point in the season.

Dawson will win this game no doubt.

Dawson County 45

Union County 10
