Two placed on all area team

The Times of Gainesville released its 2012 All-Area girls basketball team last month.

Four Dawson County Lady Tigers made the honorable mention team.

Morgan Huber, senior, Carly Gilreath, Allie Costley, both juniors, and Sheyenne Seabolt, freshman, were each named to the team.

Coach Steve Sweat's team finished with an overall record of 13-14.

The Lady Tigers narrowly missed advancing to the state tournament after a heartbreaker to East Hall, 46-43.

Gilreath was also named to the first team Region 8-AA team by coaches in the region. Allie Costley and Huber were named honorable mention to that list.

Joining the Lady Tigers on The Times' honorable mention team were: Brianna Barrett, Haber-sham Central; Deasha Beasley, Banks County; Andraya Carter, Buford; Cara Chilton, Flowery Branch; Danni Cun-ningham, Jackson County; Megan Deloach, White County; Skylar Evanson, Jefferson; Madison Franklin, Banks County; Victoria Fontana, Jackson County; Angie Hughes, Union County; Marissa Ivey, Flowery Branch; Lily Mather, Commerce; Rebecka Merritt, Union County; Callie Payne, Union County; Hunter Pugh, Gainesville; Kabree Randolph, Gainesville; Jacy Ramey, Flowery Branch; Riley Slaton, White County; Dakota Sullens, Lumpkin County; Taylor Swoszowski, North Hall; Catie Tanner, Union County and Morgan Wood, Lumpkin County.

The All-Area Player-of-the-Year was Jasmine Jenkins from East Hall.

Jenkins averaged 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Jenkins has signed to play at Vanderbilt University next season.

Also named first team were: Gabby Arencibia, Towns County; Kaela Davis, Buford; Morgan Jackson, East Hall; McKenna Rushton, North Hall and Haley Gerrin, Habersham Central.

Second team honors went to: Tavia Sykes, Flowery Branch, Taylor Handte, Lakeview Academy; Mary Kate Rushton; North Hall, Rebecca Webster Gainesville; Kristina Nelson, Buford and Maegan Kenimer, Chestatee.
