Two get all-state honorable mention

Dawson County High School senior football players Bruce Clark and Tyler Dominy received huge honors last week.

Both Tiger football players were named as honorable mention selectees by the Georgia Sportswriters Association in Class AAA.

Clark finished the season with 45 receptions for 787 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Teammate Dominy threw for 31 touchdowns and 2,823 yards from his quarterback position. Dominy completed 178 passes on 284 attempts while throwing only six interceptions.

Deshaun Watson for the state champion Gainesville Red Elephants was name All-Classification-Player-of-the-Year. Gainesville plays in Class AAAAA.

Quarterback Brooks Barden, a junior from Cartersville, was offensive player of the year.

Named defensive player of the year was Korie Rogers from Buford.

Coach of the year went to Jess Simpson of the state champion Buford Wolves in Class AAA.
