Track banquet honors runners

Dawson County High School Head Track Coach Arron Haynes and his assistants honored their athletes last Sunday, May 17 at a banquet held at Dawson County High School.

  

The Lady Tigers who received awards were: MVP - Madalyn Walters; Best Track (running) - Christine Parker; Best Field Events - Kimberly Wallace; and Coaches Award - Ally Orr.

  

Senior Parker and freshman Walters just returned from the state girl’s track meet in Albany. Parker finished in seventh place in the 3200-meters and holds the school record. Walters came in fifth at the state meet in the 1600-meters and also holds the school record in the event.

  

Haynes then presented the boys’ track awards to: TJ Byrd - MVP; Best Track - John Markley; Best Field Event - Eian Perry; and Coaches Award to Tommy Lin.

Byrd currently lays claim to the school pole vault record and finished in third place in the Region 8-AA meet held at Jefferson High School.

  

Lady Tiger Krista Morgan was presented the Academic Athlete Award for having the highest GPA for all spring sports participants at the school.
