It was a heartbreaking week for Head Coach Mark Ragsdale and his junior varsity baseball team. The Tigers played Pickens County four times last week, losing three.

The team also played Union County and came away with a 13-11 win.

Monday, the Tigers played host to Pickens County in Dawsonville. The Tigers lost the first game 11-4 before barely escaping with a 9-8 win in the second game.

The team traveled to Jasper on Thursday and Saturday to participate in a junior varsity tournament. Dawson lost to Pickens County 11-0.

Ragsdale and his team rebounded later that evening to take a 13-11 victory from Union County.

The game was tied 11-11 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Colton Chester came up to bat and fouled off several pitches with an 0-2 count. Chester finally connected hitting a single with two outs to drive in a run. Hunter Wehunt then doubled to score Chester to give Dawson the 2-run win as time expired. Each game was limited to a two hour time limit.

Logan Burt picked up the win pitching for the Tigers.

Dawson played Pickens on Saturday morning in the double elimination tournament. The Tigers took the lead late in the contest 7-3, after scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth on a 3-run triple by Burt.

After some dispute about the time limit, Pickens rebounded with seven runs on a host of Dawson errors to come away with a 10-7 win.

Dawson was eliminated from the tournament with the loss.
