The Dawson County High School boys' golf team was crowned the Region 7-AAA champs last week at Crystal Falls Golf Club in Dawsonville.

Coach Wes Greer's team won the title by shooting a team score of 314 to barely defeat runners-up Franklin County, who shot a 320.

Five of six Tiger golfers finished in the top 10 individually, but only the top four scores count toward the final team score.

Hunter Burt led the way for Dawson County with an 18-hole total of 76 to come in third place individually.

Not far behind were teammates Justin Moore with a 78, good enough for fourth place finish, Jake Phillips shot a 79 to finish in fifth place and David Ford scored an 81 for 8th place.

Jeffery Partain also had a good round. He finished in 10th place with an 84.

Zach Buchan finished out the Tiger field with a 93.

Winning the individual title was Triston Cooper from East Hall with a 75.

Dawson County will now advance to the state meet at Brookfield Country Club in Roswell on May 18.
