The Dawson County High School varsity boys and girls basketball teams will play a game at Philips Arena during the upcoming season.

Both teams will play Towns County before the Hawks game at a date to be determined once the National Basketball Association schedule is released in August.

"This is a great opportunity for the community to come see our basketball teams play and then stay for an Atlanta Hawks game," said Varsity Boys Head Coach Thad Burgess.

The Tigers played at Philips Arena in December 2008 against Pacelli, from Columbus.

Pacelli scored with 2.4 seconds remaining from NBA 3-point distance to pull out a 52-50 win over the Tigers.

The game was played before the Hawks took on the then LeBron James led Cleveland Caveliers team.

"It was a great environment to play in," Burgess said. "We had a big crowd and then our kids got to see the Hawks win over the Cleveland Cavaliers later on."
