The Dawson County High School varsity boys soccer team, ranked No. 3 in Class AAA, shutout Pickens County High School, 8-0, last week in Jasper.

Despite the cold and the wind, the Tigers scored four goals in each half to pick up the team's third win in as many games. The Tigers remain undefeated.

Dawson County got on the board quickly against Pickens in the Feb. 27 game.

Just 51 second into the game Cole Edwards laid a perfect pass to Brandon Lund who deposited the ball into the back of the net. It was Lund's first goal this season.

Thirteen minutes later, Dawson County made the score 2-0 on a goal by Josh Sage on a pass from Josh Lund.

Josh Lund scored a goal of his own just 36 seconds later on an assist from Sal Mendoza that virtually sealed the win for Dawson.

Sage added another goal just before halftime to make the score 4-0.

The Tigers added four more goals in the second half from Edwards, Josh Lund, and two goals off the foot of Brandon Lund.

Goalie Brooks Fulford recorded his third shutout of the season.

"We played a great game tonight," said head coach Jed Lacey. "These guys just love playing together. They looked like a machine tonight. Our possession game was spot on tonight. No matter who we put in the game the flow of the game never was interrupted."
Defense also played a vital role in the team's victory, according to Lacey.

"I have to mention Ben Leaver and Austin Stewart and the incredible job they are doing on the outside of the defense and how they just shut down every teams outside runs. These two guys are so aggressive and quick they do not let you breath back there," Lacey said.

Up next is a huge Region 7-AAA game with the No. 3 ranked Buford Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Dawsonville. Buford comes into Friday's game with a perfect 5-0 record with wins over East Jackson, Flowery Branch, Clarke Central, Apalachee and Jefferson.
