The Dawson County High School Tigers boys' basketball program has begun summer workouts in preparation for the 2014-2015 season.

According to head coach Thad Burgess, this summer the team will have a total of 10 workouts in order to prepare for summer camp.

Burgess' team will participate in several summer games. The team finished playing games at Jackson County, Jefferson and Banks County last week. Dawson County will travel to Jefferson tomorrow to finish up a camp.

The varsity will continue play at the University of North Georgia June 12-13. Games will begin at 10 a.m. and finish around 9 p.m.

Dawson County will then travel to Chestatee High School in Gainesville for a scrimmage June 17 and then another scrimmage at North Forsyth High School on June 19.

The Tigers will hit the road again for a one-day camp at the University of Georgia on June 21.

Up next will be camps at Birmingham-Southern June 22-24 before concluding with a trip to Auburn University June 28-29.

"We are very young and we have to find out who is ready to step up this summer," Burgess said.

Dawson County is coming off a Sweet Sixteen trip to the Class AAA state playoffs. The Tigers posted a 22-8 record before losing at Cedar Grove, 62-33, in February.

Cedar Grove lost in the next round to eventual state champion Morgan County.

Gone from last year's team are Levi Whitmire, Cameron Milholland, Lucas Pain, Sam Muenchen and Jackson Putnam.

"Losing five seniors is going to be tough. We will play plenty of games this summer to see who is prepared to fill those shoes of our departed seniors," Burgess said. "It will be a busy summer."
