The Dawson County High School wrestling team raised its overall record to 10-4 with a convincing 69-9 win over Stephens County last week.

The Dec. 20 match was originally scheduled as a tri-meet in Toccoa, however, Smokey Mountain, N.C. wasn't able to make the event.

Due to the building of a new gym at Stephens County High School, the match was held at Stephens County Middle School.

Winning matches against the Indians were: Anthony Underwood - 106 pounds, Quade Bytendorp - 113 pounds, Jonathan Mulberry - 120 pounds, James Evans - 126 pounds, Travis Dawson - 145 pounds, Levi Pressley - 132 pounds, Kevin Holtzclaw, Preston Adams - 160 pounds, Evan Kells - 182 pounds and Josh Gee - 220 pounds.

The match served as a tune up before the Amicalola Classic. The annual Classic will be Thursday and Friday at Dawson County High School.

The team will wrestle in a dual format on Thursday, whereas the matches on Friday will be in a modified traditional format.

One of the most prestigious wrestling events in Georgia, the Amicalola Classic will be entering its 28th year.
