The Dawson County High School wrestling team traveled to White County for a match with the Warriors, Stephens County and Banks County Tuesday, Dec. 16. The Tigers defeated Stephens County by a huge margin, 66-18, before dropping a 47-27 decision to the Leopards from Banks County.

The Tigers just couldn’t get going against Banks County.

Despite dealing with illness and wrestlers having issues with weight, Dawson put up a valiant fight.

Winning by pin against the Leopards were freshman Preston Adams (135), Joe Perry (140) and Donavan Spittel (189).

Sophomore David Wood dominated his opponent for a 7-1 victory. Travis Dawson also got a big 6-5 win in a close match.

Dawson then faced Stephens County. The Indians didn’t stand a chance against Coach Arron Haynes’ team. The Tigers got some points by forfeit, but the majority of their 66 points came by way of pin.

Pinning their challengers were: Wood (112), Rene Santillan (130), Adams (135), Perry (140), Cody Ridings (145) and Allen at 215 pounds.
